Ontology will begin the MainNet v3.0.0 upgrade and Consensus Nodes upgrade on December 1, 2025. This release improves network performance and implements the approved ONG tokenomics update.
Ontology blockchain users and stakers will not be affected.
Upgrade Overview
This upgrade will be completed in two phases with two public releases:
- November 27, 2025: v2.7.0
- December 1, 2025: v3.0.0
All nodes and dApp nodes on Ontology’s MainNet will upgrade in step.

Who must upgrade: Consensus nodes
Deadline: Before Dec 1, 2025

Phase 2: v3.0.0 (Dec 1, 2025)
Who must upgrade: Triones nodes
Included:
- ONG tokenomics update
- Consensus mechanism optimization

About the ONG Tokenomics Update
The tokenomics changes, approved by consensus nodes, are designed to enhance long-term sustainability and align incentives:
- Cap total ONG supply at 800 million
- Permanently lock ONT + ONG equal to 100 million ONG in value
- Extend the release schedule from 18 to 19 years
- Direct 80% of released ONG to ONT staking incentives
