Following our ongoing comprehensive security review, the Ontology core development team has identified malicious attack activity targeting the network.

As a precautionary measure, the Ontology Mainnet will remain temporarily paused while our technical team and network validators conduct the necessary security response and implement a network upgrade to address the identified risks.

No Impact on User Assets

We would like to clearly emphasize that our security investigation has confirmed that the identified malicious activity does not involve or compromise the security of user assets.

The temporary suspension of the Mainnet is a proactive security measure designed to give our team sufficient time to complete the necessary remediation, upgrade the network, and conduct comprehensive security verification before resuming normal operations.

Network Upgrade and Comprehensive Security Review

The Ontology team is currently working closely with network validators and relevant ecosystem partners to:

• Complete the necessary security remediation;
• Upgrade the relevant network components;
• Conduct comprehensive internal technical and security checks;
• Perform extensive testing and validation of the upgraded network;
• Verify network integrity, consensus, and operational stability;
• Ensure the security of the network and user assets before resuming normal operations.

The security review will continue beyond the immediate network upgrade. In addition to our internal technical investigation and testing, we will coordinate with third-party security organizations to conduct further assessments and validation.

Our goal is to restore normal Mainnet operations within the next 24 hours, provided that all required security checks, remediation, and upgrade procedures are successfully completed.

However, the safety of the network and user assets remains our highest priority. The Mainnet will only resume once we have completed the necessary security verification and are confident that the network can operate safely and reliably.
