Ontology Monthly Report — August, 2021


Ontology’s EVM, Ethereum account systems, and EVM contracts continue their development; ONTO released Anydrop, a decentralized digital asset distribution tool; ONT was listed on Huobi Japan; and finally, Li Jun, Founder of Ontology, published “Vaccine passports must leverage decentralized identity solutions” in Security Magazine.


Decentralized identity products offer an ideal solution to the data privacy and identity risks associated with COVID-19 passports and other verification methods.

Developments & Corporate Updates

Development Progress


  • We have completed the launch of Ontology’s EVM TestNet, and testing is 35% complete. It is designed to be fully compatible with the Ethereum contract ecosystem.
  • We have completed Ethereum RPC support and we are 100% done with internal testing. The TestNet has been synchronized online; we are 25% done with testing.
  • We have completed 100% of Ontology’s new Ethereum account system and the TestNet has been synchronized online; we are 30% done with testing.
  • The EVM/OEP-4 asset seamless transfer technical solution, which facilitates the conversion between OEP-4 assets and EVM assets, is complete and the TestNet has been synchronized online; we are 25% done with testing.
  • We have completed 50% of the tutorial documents on EVM contract development on the Ontology chain.

Product Development


  • ONTO Anydrop, our first decentralized airdrop distribution tool is live. Airdrop organizers can send assets to up to 100 addresses in one transaction. With fast speeds and cheap gas fees, participants can receive airdrops effortlessly. ONTO Anydrop supports Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, and OKExChain. It is also now listed on Polygon’s Dev Tooling!



  • ONTO App v3.9.7 was released, adding password-free payments, where users can quickly complete transactions with fingerprint or facial recognition.
  • ONTO launched campaigns with Wault Finance, Deri Protocol, Argon, ForTube Lending and Bunicorn, and also launched a campaign with Wing and KSwap. Every campaign included rewards and attracted enthusiastic participation from the community, with a total number of participants exceeding 4,000. The campaigns with Deri Protocol and ForTube Lending provided additional rewards for new users.   



  • ONTO hosted AMAs with Bunicorn, MacaronSwap, Mars Ecosystem and Babylons. The participants of the event with MacaronSwap submitted over 1,000 Twitter comments and the event with Mars Ecosystem attracted more than 5,300 participants, both reaching new highs.



On-Chain Activity


  • As of Aug 24, 2021, there have been 119 dApps launched in total on MainNet.
  • There have been a total of 6,668,962 dApp-related transactions completed on MainNet.
  • We recorded 19,694 dApp-related transactions in the past month.
  • There have been a total of 16,207,839 transactions completed on MainNet,
  • We recorded a total of 183,356 transactions in the past month.


Community Growth & Bounty


  • The Harbinger Program v2 continues. We published the Harbinger interview Series on Medium. Thus far, we have interviewed Emilio from our Spanish community, DuMonT from our Slovak community, Dilip from our Sri Lankan community and Duy from our Vietnam community about their experiences as a Harbinger.



  • We held the 15th Ontology Community Call on Discord, led by Humpty Calderon, our Head of Community. He also answered questions about the implementation of Ontology in specific business scenarios from community members in a short video.
  • We held the 15th DeID Summit in which we spoke about DAOs and the intersection between NFTs and DID in the Web 3.0 era. We conveyed Ontology’s insights on the concept of decentralized community construction and decentralized identity to our community members.

Event Spotlight


It was all hands on deck this month with a string of news and developments:


  • Ontology has accelerated its growth operations in the Japanese market following a string of new announcements including ONT’s listings on Japanese regulated exchanges, Decurret and Huobi Japan, which will help expand business opportunities, implement more industry solutions, accelerate the development of a trusted ecosystem, and bring about substantial growth in local communities.
  • Li Jun, Founder of Ontology, took part in an exclusive video interview with CryptoCoinShow to introduce the recent development of Ontology’s EVM and how Ontology’s decentralized identity and data management technology can play a central role in the Web 3.0 era by fostering interoperability within the blockchain ecosystem.
  • “Vaccine passports must leverage decentralized identity solutions” was published in Security Magazine by Li Jun, Founder of Ontology. The article explored how decentralized identity can address data and privacy issues in the medical domain.
  • Ontology’s Americas Ecosystem Lead, Erick Pinos, was invited to participate in Reimagine’s “Tenth Anniversary Edition” event hosted by MouseBelt, an ecosystem building the future of blockchain innovation and education, he introduced Ontology’s decentralized identity solutions in detail, and said that this can be a good way for fresh graduates to start their careers in the blockchain industry.
  • Ontology published two Medium articles (Part 1 & Part 2) about Web 3.0 that explored what defines Web 3.0 and Ontology’s relationship to the coming Web 3.0 era. At the same time, Ontology was listed on the Web 3.0 landscape map by the decentralized platform NEAR and the decentralized protocol Uniswap, respectively. Ontology has effectively promoted the construction of Web 3.0 infrastructure, and its contribution to decentralized digital identity is being recognized. Ontology also published its #WEB3 101 Series on domestic and overseas platforms. The thread introduces Web 3.0 and how it will improve upon Web 1.0 and 2.0 infrastructure, allowing more developers and users to participate in the development of Web 3.0 infrastructure.
