I\u2019ve been keeping tabs on what the team\u2019s building, and figured it\u2019s time to give a quick look at what\u2019s been happening behind the scenes. This isn\u2019t a launch announcement, just an update on the direction things are going.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Choosing Your Own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ont.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONT ID<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\"> Name<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">One of the key updates in progress is letting users name their own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ont_did\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONT ID<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">. It\u2019ll work like ontonaut.ont.im, and the idea is simple &#8211; your ID should be something you can remember and actually use. No more pasting long hex strings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">It\u2019s also being built to work wherever ENS names are already supported. If an app lets you send tokens to ontonaut.eth, it will also understand ontonaut.ont.im. No special implementation needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">A New Kind of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ONTOWallet\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Wallet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">, Baked In<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">This version of ONT ID is being set up with an Account Abstraction wallet that\u2019s generated through a passkey. That means no seed phrase and no recovery stress. You get a secure, passwordless setup from the start.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">This kind of wallet hasn\u2019t been part of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/onto.app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONTO<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\"> before. Now it is. When you create your ONT ID, the AA wallet comes with it automatically. It\u2019s not an extra step. It just happens as part of the flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONT ID as Your Profile and Chat Identity<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Beyond wallet addresses, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ont.io\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONT ID<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\"> will serve as your account in ONT IM, which runs on the Matrix protocol. That means your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ont_did\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">ONT ID<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\"> becomes your Matrix ID too. Messaging and identity come from the same source.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Your profile in Matrix isn\u2019t separate from your identity elsewhere. It\u2019s all connected. That\u2019s the direction the team is taking, meaning fewer separate logins, simpler flows, less overhead.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Starting to Think About AI Interactions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">There\u2019s also early work being done on how this ID system could carry context for AI agents. It might include preferences that shape how agents interact with you or how they represent you. Nothing finalized yet, but the intention is clear &#8211; your ID shouldn\u2019t just say who you are. It should help systems understand how to work with you.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">That\u2019s Where Things Stand<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">Everything above is still in development. Some pieces are already working in test environments. Others are in design. The progress is real, and it\u2019s pointing toward a more unified experience across identity, wallets, chat, and eventually AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; line-height: 1.15;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;\">I\u2019ll share more once there\u2019s something to try out.
